The Agri-Food Council is an independent board appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council is accountable to the Minister of Agriculture for the supervision of all agencies established under The Agri-Food Act, 2004

The purpose of The Agri-Food Act, 2004 is to "provide for the promoting, developing, regulating and controlling" of the production and/or marketing of agricultural products within Saskatchewan. 

Agencies

A development commission is an agency mandated to perform promotion and development activities, including research, related to its respective agricultural product(s).

A development board is an agency mandated to perform promotion and development activities, including research, related to its respective agricultural product(s).

With respect to its particular agricultural product, a marketing board is an agency mandated to perform promotion and development activities, including research, as well as to regulate and control the production and marketing of that product.
