Roles and Responsibilities

SCDC is responsible to approximately 30,000 Saskatchewan canola producers.  The organization collects a refundable check-off from producers and performs research and development that is intended to improve yields, decrease input costs, increased demand and create an overall better product.

Membership

Membership in SCDC is not mandatory.   As a member of SCDC, there are benefits, including access to research and a strong industry voice to fight for issues important to canola producers.

How the agency works

SCDC is funded by a $0.75 per metric tonne check-off on all canola and canola-quality Brassica juncea marketed. The check-off is determined by the board of directors and must be voted on by producers at the Annual General Meeting. From the levy raised, the agency performs research and development activities that are intended to reduce producer’s costs of production, increase yields or develop new markets.
