Saskatchewan Turkey Producers’ Marketing Board

Roles and Responsibilities
The Saskatchewan Turkey Producers’ Marketing Board collected $284,200 in check-off and other revenue in 2004.  The agency uses this money to manage its administration office, submit check-off to the Canadian Turkey Marketing Agency (CTMA), and to manage the supply management system in Saskatchewan.  The agency is responsible for managing the supply managed system in Saskatchewan, which includes negotiating the provinces quota levels with the CTMA, negotiating price levels with local processors and developing a long-term strategic focus for Saskatchewan’s turkey industry

.

Membership

Membership in Sask Turkey is limited to Saskatchewan producers who have quota rights.  Quota is allocated to the province by the CTMA.  Saskatchewan producers are then allocated quota from the provincial board.  There is a limit of 18% of the provincial quota that any one person/corporation may own.
