Help with the Connections Services Directory

Search | Subject | Government or Non-Government | Location | RM (Rural Municipality) | Organizations/Programs and Services | Disclaimer | Navigation Features

The CONNECTIONS Services Directory generates a full text search, not case-sensitive, of all database documents. After the word(s) is entered and the “Search” feature chosen, the defaults include:

  • all subjects
  • both Government, Non-Government
  • all locations
  • all R.M.'s (Rural Municipalities)
  • organizations

For an extensive search of the Directory's information, leave the defaults at the predetermined settings.

If the exact title for an organization or program is not known, a selection may be made from the scroll down listing within the “List of Organizations” or the “List of Programs and Services”.

Search:

At its simplest, a query can be just a single word.

When searching keep in mind:

  • A misspelled word(s) or extra spaces may result in “no records were found” being displayed.
  • Using a word which is too general could result in a multitude of related and unrelated records being returned.

To help narrow the search results use the search features below.

Search features

If you are uncertain about the title of an organization or a program and service, leave the search box empty and use the search features provided. These features will enhance the search, refine the query and give more precise results. Any combination of categories may be used.

Subject specific

Familiarize yourself with the subjects. No entry is required in the search field if you choose this feature.

For example, if the subject heading Toll-Free Phone Numbers was chosen, the list generated will include only those services that provide toll-free phone numbers

Because the subject list is letter sensitive you can move through the subject listing by typing a letter in the list. The list will move to the subjects which begin with the letter you have typed.

For example, if you type “d” the list will move to the subjects beginning with the letter “d”.

Government or Non-Government

Because it may be difficult to know whether an organization or program and service is government (Federal or Provincial) or non-government the predetermined setting is Both.

To refine the query and give more precise results, select either government or non-government.

Location

The pull down menu, in alphabetical order, includes locations in Saskatchewan and a limited number of out-of-province locations that serve Saskatchewan residents. Because the location list is letter sensitive you can move through the location listing by typing a letter in the list. The list will move to the locations which begin with the letter you have typed.

For example, if you type “d” the list will move to the locations beginning with the letter “d”.

R.M. (Rural Municipality)

This pull down menu lists the Saskatchewan Municipalities and a limited number of out-of-province locations in numerical order.

Organizations/Programs and Services

The default searches organizations first.  If the message “No records were found” appears, select “Programs and Services” and resume the search.

If the results are still not successful, confirm your request by checking spelling or the selection criteria you have used.
